Works in Assemblage
by Antony Paige Becker
Emerging artist Antony Paige Becker is a Florida native and long time Tampa resident.
Antony spent a 30-year career in the commercial flat glass industry as a business owner and lead installer,
as well as a designer in decorative glass etching, sandblasting and painted overlay.
In 2010 Antony began to blend his artistic sensibility with his intrigue in history, and his passion for collecting,
antiquing and repurposing. From this natural integration of interests and creativity came Antony's first works in assemblage.
These one-of-a-kind sculptures are an imaginative and resourceful use of found objects and salvaged materials.
Each work is constructed with a utilitarian purpose, possesses a life-like quality, and has a distinctive story to tell.
Upon the completion of his 25th piece in 2014, Antony was eager to break into the art world.
Choosing to be selective, he entered his work in two of the most distinguished shows in the Tampa / St. Pete area
and was accepted into both the 2015 Gasparilla Festival of the Arts and the 40th Annual Mainsail Art Festival.
Antony is currently in the concept stage of an exciting series of assemblage sculptures related to Florida's
mid-century architectural past.
" I create these assemblage sculptures from found materials, keeping my imagination as open and broad
as possible - with my goal set at being able to create something visually interesting combined with a new purpose & functionality. "
